Don’t Wait for the Weekend

Don’t wait for the weekend – Jump in now!

Tomorrow is the summer solstice – the longest day of the year where the sun is at its highest point and the daylight is long. Opportunity feels abundant!

Summertime naturally invites in thc “carpe diem” spirit – it urges us, allows us, celebrates us to take the risk, jump into the deep end, and begin the journey even if we are unsure where exactly we are going.

Trust. Even if the beginning feels messy.

When we push things to later ….

Later, the coffee gets cold.

Later, we lose interest.

Later, the day turns into night.

Later, people grow up.

Later, the opportunity passes.

Later, we regret not taking the chance.

So why not spill all that solstice sunlight over your creative and strategic daydreams and jump start summer by fully showing up?

What’s something you have been putting off?

Here are a few ways to get started:

Start with the “Gap Project” - A 6 week Sprint

Ask: What’s the gap between where I am and where I want to be?

Next, build a 6-week summer project to close that gap—that could mean building specific skills, establishing new networking connections, gaining experience, or flexing your self-reliance muscle.

Break your routine - Shake up how you organize your time and day - get up early or stay up late. Say yes to the impromptu invitation, especially because it's not on your calendar. Let spontaneity rule.

Take the trip - Travel changes us. It heightens our senses. Offers new cultural awareness. It boosts self sufficiency and independence. Clarity around our own values arise, and our whole body is shaken wide awake. We are paying attention differently.

Start the project - Launch the podcast, YouTube channel, or Substack. Rewrite your resume and/or build your portfolio. Learn a new tech or creative skill. Just begin.

Say, yes to the entry level job -.No role is too small when it gets us moving. Show up, stay curious, and take pride in the early steps.

Build your savings - Do a personal financial audit. Be intentional about setting a budget and realistic about what you can afford. Set some monetary goals. Financial security equals greater freedom of choice down the road.

Tap into nature - Nature has a way of unlocking our own unique creative reservoir. It's here, where so many new, great ideas reside and will tumble out if we give them the right surroundings. Commit to finding your way onto the trails and into the forest.

The day is long and the sunlight plentiful.

Don’t wait for the weekend. Carpe Diem!
